We, as individuals, know better. We seem to understand future but react in the present. Give a child a choice of an ice cream cone now or one every day for the next week but not one now. Most, I believe, will go for the cone now! Then tomorrow they will want the week’s deal too!
Isn’t that a lot like we do as adults too? We know we are destroying our natural world as we drive along the petroleum based highway in our petroleum based automobiles with the back seat filled with petroleum based plastic bags filled with mass produced, chemically enhanced food products.
I know I’m being harsh here but I was just listening to the song “Waiting for the World to Change.” And outside my window right now is a hummingbird at a flowering bush I planted years ago.
The whole concept of my book, “It’s Your Choice,” is about making decisions. Hopefully, we as a society, make the ultimate right decisions for the benefit of all of us in the long term. And, hopefully again, we make those decisions now; not in a few days or weeks or even years. Make your choices in the now with an eye to the future too. We shouldn’t let our ice cream melt waiting for the world to change. We must change it ourselves now.
